Gold plating technique:

gold plating is a decorating techniques as well as one of the common vocabularies. Originally, a thin layer of gold covered the surface of an object. Later, it also means that somebody exercises or further studies in some environment for undeserved reputation.

Ornamental gold alloy such as gold-nickel alloy,gold-indium alloys, gold-copper alloy and gold-silver alloy is mainly applied on decorations for bright-coloured, limpid unclear and likeable color.

The color and lustre of most gold alloys is golden yellow system, such as golden yellow, light topaz and rose gold. Another color system is red system, such as peach, pink and rose red. Gold-silver alloy also has the clad layer with green light.

Gold-nickel alloy and gold-silver alloy have white color. Because gold is expensive, it is impossible to do experiments to choose colors. There are some formulas for reference, liquid medicine merchants also have goods for selecting.

For now, cyanide(kalium) gold plating is the best in gold plating and its lustre, adhesiveness and abradability are all better than non-cyanide gold plating. In recent years, with the progress of electroplating technology, gold plating technique has new breakthrough, while gold plated jewelry only has golden yellowe color in the past.

Now, in France, America and Japan, there are three even more colors of gold plating jewelries. Rose, silver, gold, black and blue are known as three color gold plating.

Generally, Homogeneous gold plating is not required to be too thick but only two micron. The clad layer of heterogeneous gold plated shall be thicker.

Some countries stipulate that such products must have a plating of more than 10 microns with gold plating. For example, the famous British Johnson & Johnson Mercer Limited Company requires a plating of 12.5 microns with gold plating to be qualified.
